Student Ambassadors

Our University of Miami Police Department is committed to providing for the safety and security of the entire University community. Our Student Ambassador program is an integral part of these efforts.

Student Ambassadors are UM students, employed by the Police Department to augment our Crime Prevention division. While they do not perform the same duties as our Crime Prevention Specialists, they are an important element to this division. They are readily identified by their shirts with the Student Ambassador logo.

Student Ambassadors work on several tasks throughout the semester that include, but are not limited to: communicating with students, faculty, and staff through tabling and special events, maintaining logs and information for our bike registration program, updating department statistics, and assisting our crime prevention specialist on a day to day basis.

The Student Ambassadors are presented with many opportunities to maximize their work experience. In order to become an Ambassador one must be 18 years of age, be of high moral character, and a full-time student with a minimum of 2.5 GPA. The selection process consists of interview(s) followed by a background check.

If you are interested in becoming an Ambassador, please contact our Crime Prevention Specialist at 305-284-1105.
