Clery Crime Advisories

The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (20 USC & 1092(f)) is the landmark federal law, originally known as the Campus Security Act, that requires colleges and universities across the United States to disclose information about crime on and around their campuses.

Because the law is tied to participation in federal student financial aid programs, it applies to most institutions of higher education, both public and private. It is enforced by the U.S. Department of Education. To learn more about the Jeanne Clery Act, visit Department of Education - Clery Act

Annual Safety and Fire Safety Report
The Annual Security Report (ASR) offers Crime Statistics info for the previous 3 years, and much more information for campus safety.  This document is a comprehensive annual security and fire safety report published annually in compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (20 U.S.C. Section 1092(f))—part of the Higher Education Act (34 CFR 668.46). All currently registered students as well as employees are directly mailed (via U.S. Postal Service or interoffice campus mail) a notice by October 1 of each year that includes a statement of the report’s availability, the exact electronic address at which the report is posted, a brief description of the report’s contents, and a statement that the institution will provide a paper copy of the report upon request to the University of Miami Police Department.

Printed copies may be requested by calling UMPD at 305-284-1105. Current and prospective students and employees of the University are informed of the guide’s availability via email and by physical mail, annually when the guide has been updated.
