UMPD Services and Programs

The University offers two safety escort options: UMPD 24/7 Safety Escort Service and Safe Ride.

UGuardian is a free safety app for smart-phones, with options for virtual safety escorts, pre-registration of information for emergency assistance, and a one-touch button to call UMPD or 911.

UMPD offers free self-defense awareness classes for UM faculty, staff and students.

UMPD provides FREE registration and locks for all UM community members with a bicycle on campus. Learn more on how and where to register and for tips on bike safety. Registration is mandatory.


Operation ID is a FREE UMPD program that will improve the likelihood of having your valuables returned to you.
The UM Coral Gables campus has over 100 blue light phones which dial UMPD directly for emergency communication.


The Annual Security Report (ASR) houses information on campus crime statistics for all UM campuses, as well as safety resources, UMPD policies, and UM safety procedures.
UMPD provides FREE security assessments for all campus buildings, in order to maintain and improve the quality of our physical and procedural safety and security on campus.
