If You Are Involved in an Accident

  • Call 911 if anyone is injured, there is an immediate safety concern, or the accident is blocking traffic.
  • For non-emergency accidents, contact UMPD at 305-284-6666.
  • Do not move vehicle, if vehicle needs to be moved for safety reasons take photos of the vehicles, damage, license plates, and accident scene when safe.
  • Exchange driver’s license, vehicle, insurance, and contact information with the other driver.
  • Do not leave the scene of an accident without providing the required information.
  • Follow the instructions of responding UMPD officers.
Reporting an Accident

UMPD officers can respond to accidents occurring on campus, assess the scene, provide assistance, document the incident, and take appropriate enforcement action when necessary.

For emergencies or accidents involving injuries, call 911.

Hit and Run

If your vehicle is involved in a hit-and-run:

  • Do not move your vehicle unless remaining in place creates a safety hazard.
  • Call UMPD at 305-284-6666 and report the incident.
  • If possible, note the other vehicle’s make, model, color, license plate, and direction of travel.
  • Take photos of your vehicle and the surrounding area.
  • Do not attempt to follow or confront the other driver.
  • Remain at the scene and wait for UMPD officers to arrive.

  1. Please complete all applicable fields within the linked form, including signature and date. Instructions can be found on page 2 of the form.
  2. Once completed, a copy of the “Driver Self Report of Traffic Crash” can be emailed to SelfReportCrashes@flhsmv.gov.
